How about a mac running linux?
I don’t know what the band were doing with it. Nobody had in-ears so whatever the laptop was playing back wouldn’t have been in sync. Maybe the guy was webcasting live via the video in the laptop.
I don’t know much about screamo either. I figured it’s got to be emo with screaming in it. Which should mean effete boys with eyeliner playing thrashy metal. But I’ve been around the block so many times that it’s all just a blur to me. People have been doing those low death metal vocals for about a quarter of a century now. When you think that the ‘real’ rock and roll only lasted for about ten years that’s quite an achievement.

My sense is that I would like screamo, although I’ve never heard of it until now.

Anyone who brings a computer – especially a mac – onstage should be disqualified. If you can’t do it with linux or a strat copy then you just aren’t trying hard enough.

I’m voting for blokey screamo, but, then again, you well know how tasteless I can be.

Sounds great Tony. Get that guitar strung and write some songs.
Wombats had a practice on Saturday. I got rather tipsy on stout and left my iPod at David’s, so now I study in silence.
What’s the weather like in San Diego? Has it been a hot summer?

comp sci major but mainly interested in math – right now I’m doing pre-calc and trig. i’ve been meaning to re-string my guitar. the strings are sitting here somewhere. will comment separately on your BOB review, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Back to the Pixies, I’ve always thought you could have been Black Francis. Your Spanish is probably better, and I seem to recall your vocal and guitar style being similar.

G’day Jim, Yes someone out there does look at your blog occasionally. Sounds like you’re going through a bad patch. I had a major stress incident at work a couple of years ago with a month off on stress leave so I have some idea how it feels. Unfortunately mine was then followed by a marriage break up (from which I haven’t really recovered). Anyway, hang in there. Middle age can be tough but people survive it. Take care. Mike Duffy.
